25 weeks!

Well, it's been awhile since the last post, but everything is going great! Since a pregnancy with multiples is more risky, it's good to have small milestones along the way. 24 weeks was our most recent milestone. That's when the babies are considered "viable". And the fact that I'm almost 26 weeks and not on bed-rest is a small milestone in itself! I really have felt good. I'm fortunate to have had such a smooth pregnancy thus far! We just pray that it continues.

The babies are around 2 pounds each now and very active! Harper still seems to be more of a busy-body (wonder where she gets that from??) but Owen is definitely growing and moving as well. He is a little lower (meaning lots of pressure on the bladder) and Harper is higher up (making it difficult to breathe at times).  But they are growing at the rate of a single baby, so everything is right on track! :)

 Update on mom:
A few weeks ago the doctor was a little worried because my cervix was starting to become thinner (which is fairly common due to the weight and pressure of an extra baby), however we started weekly progesterone injections and since then my cervix has not gotten any shorter or thinner - Good news! The belly is definitely growing by leaps and bounds. We can tell a difference each week! I'm pretty uncomfortable most days, and the feet are VERY swollen and sore at the end of the day. I now know the definition of 'cankles'! Uggghhhh:( But if that's my biggest complaint - I'm doing ok!

We start weekly doctor visits next week, and our childbirth classes in January. If we can make it 10 more weeks (March 6th is the goal date) that will be 36 weeks! We'll keep everyone updated on the progress. Please continue to pray for the babies and for us!

We love you all! MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

21 Weeks - Over Halfway!!!

Well, things are still going great! The babies are growing just like they should be (and so is mama). Supposedly, they are the length of large bananas now (about 10.5 inches long). As of last week, Owen was 14 ounces and Harper was 12 ounces. We think Owen is a little bigger because he is the lazy one! haha! Harper is definitely the active one! She moves around like crazy on a daily basis. Not only is Owen a bit lazy, but also a little shy. He's hiding his face each time we try to get a good pic during the ultrasounds. We're definitely curious as to whether this is going to be the case after the babies are born:)  Is Harper going to be the outgoing, social butterfly?? Will Owen be more introverted?? Who knows! But we sure can't wait to meet these little ones!

As for mom - the doctor has said to really start slowing down & taking it easy. The extra weight and pressure on my cervix makes things a little more risky than a normal (single-baby) pregnancy. Those of you that know me at all, realize this will be extremely difficult! However, it will be worth it! Anything to avoid (or postpone) bed-rest and prevent  pre-term labor.

As always, we appreciate the continued prayers from our friends and families. Your support and love mean so much to us! Thank you for being there for us, and please continue to follow our blog:)

It's a BOY....and a GIRL!!!!!! :)

Well - we have been blessed with a boy and a girl! And we couldn't be happier :)  We had the reveal party, where our close friends and family came over for a cookout and the cutting of the cakes.  The inside of cake 1 (baby A) was blue (actually white with blue filling), and the inside of cake 2 (baby B) was pink! God continues to bless us!

Now the shopping begins! We officially started registering, planning, and shopping for baby stuff. And we realized how completely OVERWHELMING it is! Which brand of bottles, diapers, strollers, etc????  Being first time parents is a real eye-opener! We realized there's a lot more decisions to make than 'what color should we paint the nursery'?! Haha!  It's a very crazy and exciting time for us, and we are truly looking forward to all the adventures to come!

4 months...almost halfway!!!

Well - This is just a quick update...

Everything is going great so far! I've felt really good, considering there are 2 human beings growing inside of me. I felt the babies move for the first time a few days ago, which was exciting. However, they definitely don't move on command:(  haha! Can't wait for Kyle to be able to feel them move too!

We go in this week for another ultrasound. YAY:)  So, as long as these babies are cooperating, we should be able to find out the genders!!!!! However, we have to make it fun right?!! So, we plan on having a "sex party" Friday to reveal the genders. Haha! That way, we find out along with our friends and family. We are sooooo excited! We'll have 2 cakes - white of course - however the inside of each cake will be either blue or pink to reveal boy or girl! We'll post pics soon!

How our adventure began!

Trying to get pregnant has not been an easy task for us! After years of trying the "natural way", we decided to see a fertility specialist earlier this year. It was July when we decided to do IVF (in vitro fertilization). It was a crazy and intense process, that consumed our lives for several weeks. But - it worked the first time!!!

July 22nd - The day we found out we were pregnant!
We went to the dr. to take a pregnancy test, and were told to expect a phone call within 1-2 hours.....to find out the long awaited news! OMG - it took about 3 hours, which seemed like eternity!!!! I was about to go crazy. But I'll never forget that phone call from my favorite nurse, Bea Jay, who told me the news we've waited so long to hear! YOUR PREGNANT!!!! Wow! So exciting! Now what????

Aug. 12th - (7 weeks pregnant) Our first ultrasound! TWINS!
Well, we didn't really know what to expect at this first prenatal visit! Dr. K did an ultrasound, which showed not 1, but 2 heartbeats! WOW! Now, we had an idea that this may happen. After all we did implant 2 embryos. But finding out that you're about to be parents of TWO babies (at one time!) is not the kind of news you can prepare yourself for. We were very excited, but it took a few days for the news to really sink in.

Sept. 2nd - Ultrasound #2 (10 weeks pregnant)  They're starting to look like babies!
It is AMAZING how much those little critters can grow in just 3 weeks. They were actually beginning to look like babies, not just blobs! The babies heart rates were good, they were growing at a good rate, and they were moving around quite a bit! One lil baby was very active. The arms were moving all around. I teased Kyle, saying that it must be a little girl practicing her cheerleading moves! Haha!
Since everything looked good, we were released from the specialist at this point, to go back to my OB in Norman.

Sept. 23rd - Ultrasound #3 (13 weeks pregnant) The twins are growing!
First prenatal visit with Dr. Parker. OMG we just can't believe how much they have grown - again! At this point, the babies have all of their organs (you can even see their brains). And they have arms and legs, which were moving a lot! Again - one lil baby was quite a bit more active, this time kicking the legs. Wow - this early and the peanuts are already fighting! Haha!

Can't wait for the next ultrasound in 3 weeks....we should find out the genders!!!!

Our family is expanding!!!

Well, Kyle and I have some wonderful news. We are expecting twins in March! This is our first pregnancy and we couldn't be more excited! It has been a long road, but we finally did in vitro this past July - and it worked the first time! And, God has blessed us with twins! YAY!

We hope to keep everyone updated through this blog. And since we are new to parenting, we could use any advice/tips that you parents would like to share!

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for us throughout this journey, and we could still use positive thoughts and prayers for a healthy pregnancy:)
